Superfood Smoothies Daily Recipes

Getting superfoods into your daily meals can be difficult when you are stretched for time and unfamiliar with the recipes. Superfood smoothies are a really great way to top up on nutrients and minerals without having to cook complicated meals. If you load enough good stuff into your superfood smoothies then you can even drink them instead of eating meals. With this in mind, here are three daily recipes for superfood smoothies for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Breakfast Blueberry Superfood Smoothie

Blueberries are an American fruit closely related to the European bilberry. Both are extremely healthy. The USDA ranked them first in terms of antioxidant activity when compared to 40 other fresh fruits and vegetables.

One of these breakfast smoothies contains 35% of your RDA of vitamin K. Vitamin K is fat-soluble and essential for building strong bones, preventing heart disease and helping your body to make the most of vitamin D.

This breakfast superfood smoothie also contains flaxseed which WebMD call ‘one of the most powerful plant foods on the planet’. Just one tablespoon contains 8% of your RDA of fibre, 9% of your manganese and 7% of your magnesium. It can lower the risk of liver disease and even certain types of cancer.

To make this delicious breakfast smoothie, put all the following ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth.

  • 1 cup blueberries or bilberries
  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseed
  • Handful of spinach
  • 1 cup coconut or almond milk

Lunchtime Protein Superfood Smoothie

This superfood smoothie is filling enough to have instead of a lunch time meal. It is high in protein, potassium, iron, calcium, and healthy fats. You also get loads of antioxidants from the cacao and goji berries.

Put all the following ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth.

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 2 bananas
  • 1 cup spinach
  • ¼ cup activated almonds
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter

Then sprinkle in :

  • 1 teaspoon coconut shreds,
  • 1 teaspoon raw cacao nibs
  • 1 teaspoon ground Brazil nuts
  • ¼ cup goji berries

Superfood Smoothies for Supper

It should be noted that it is better to have a proper meal in the evening than just a smoothie, because you need the enzymes from your saliva which you create when chewing to help break down your food. If you’re trying to lose weight then a healthy smoothie is OK as an occasional alternative, but it is not advisable that you replace all meals with smoothies.
